After my local art quilt show the month of January, I’ve been busy creating new quilts. Somehow the whole month of January snuck by but February has been a very productive month in my studio.
I’m excited about two tree quilts I finished in February, one Birch Trees 16 in Spring and the other Birch Trees 17 in fall. Both of these quilts depict the essence of “spring” in one and “fall” in the other. The Birch tree 17 quilt was the first time I tried a new technique of creating almost a full background quilt upon which I layered Birch Trees in the foreground. I used colors for the background trees which almost completely blended into the background colors. I like the effect it created.
It is fun to try some different techniques and different piecing approaches.
