Kittens and quilts don’t mix

I accepted a new kitten into my house the weekend before Thanksgiving 2024.  Her name is Poppy but it ought to be “destructo cat”!  She is about 9 months old and heading to be a short small cat but she has phenomenal jumping capabilities.  She spends a good bit of her time in my second floor where, until recently, I had my quilts for sale hung on the walls.  My quilts for sale with a dowel across the upper back top in a sleeve hang on a unique arrangement of drying hangers projecting from the wall with longer dowels slipped through the quilt sleeve.  My smaller quilts with plastic rings in the back corners WERE hanging on thumbtacks fairly high up on the walls of one room and a hallway.  Acrobatic Poppy managed to jump and pull most of them down over the last 6 months with thumbtacks falling to the carpet.  I think she wanted the thumbtacks which we would find all over the upstairs…not good!!  Two weeks ago I took all the quilts down and removed the thumbtacks which she still found inviting.  Those smaller quilts are hanging grouped on a few skirt/pants hangers in my closet well away from Poppy’s prying eyes!  New young pets bring new vibrance and energy to my house and some new challenges.
