Curved Edges in a Triptych

IMG_7910This week I designed a triptych wall quilt made of all vertical curved piecing.  I used the same 10 fabrics in these three quilts, coordinated so the design and color coordination carries through across the three quilts.  I added another element of “curves” by curving the sides and then matching the curves of the sides to the quilts adjacent to each other.  The curved sides artistically relate to the curves in the piecing.

As I indicated in my previous blog, I just love curved piecing!  I’m always striving for soft, gentle curves that evoke a sense of peace and tranquility, curves that feel smooth and graceful.  In quilts such as these I like to use a variety of colors and a variety of light, medium and dark fabrics which provide excellent contrast.
